HSBC Special Projects

Mainenance
No Animal Contact | No Training Required
There is always a long list of maintenance projects that help keep the shelter safe, functional, and comfortable for the animals in our care. Volunteers with maintenance or repair skills are incredibly valuable and can make a big impact by helping with tasks such as faucet repair or replacement, removing and replacing broken tile, fencing repair, yard work, brush cleanup, painting, and upgrading or replacing light fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting. If you enjoy fixing things, working with tools, or tackling hands-on projects, your skills can help keep the shelter running smoothly.

Craft/Sewing
No Animal Contact | No Training Requirement | Many Projects Competed at Home
Creative volunteers can support the shelter by making a variety of helpful items for our animals and daily operations. Sewing and craft volunteers may help by making snuffle mats, sewing cage curtains for cat kennels, creating reusable Swiffer-style mop heads for cleaning, and other handmade items that support animal care. These projects can often be completed at home and donated back to the shelter.

Enrichment Prep
No Animal Contact | No Training Requirement | Many Projects Competed at Home
Enrichment helps reduce stress and keep animals mentally stimulated while they wait for their homes. Examples of enrichment projects may include paper towel tube treat dispensers, pipe cleaner cat toys, frozen treats, busy boxes, snuffle mats, and other creative activities that help make shelter life more engaging and enjoyable for the animals. Stay tuned for details on how to get involved! 🐾
