Hello
We're so glad you're here!

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We rely on volunteers for nearly everything we do, and their time, energy, and compassion make it possible for us to care for the animals and serve our community every day.
Youth Volunteers
We love seeing young people get involved in helping animals and their community.

We are proud to operate as a Fear Free Shelter. This means that all staff and volunteers who interact with animals are required to complete Fear Free Shelter Certification, and complete in person traiing before working directly with the animals in our care. This training is completed through an online course that typically takes five to six hours to finish. The certification helps ensure that every interaction with animals is focused on reducing stress, increasing comfort, and supporting their emotional wellbeing while they are with us.
*Due to insurance and liability restrictions, any volunteer under the age of 16 must be supervised by a legal guardian who is also a fully onboarded volunteer regardless of the nature of their volunteer activities.

Volunteers who are 16–17 years old and fully onboarded may be permitted to volunteer at the shelter without direct guardian supervision, but they will be limited to tasks that do not include direct animal contact. Any activities involving direct animal care or contact require accompaniment of a legal guardian who is also a fully onboarded volunteer.

Examples of tasks youth volunteers may assist with include:
-
General cleaning in the shelter
-
Helping with special projects or events
-
Preparing enrichment activities for the animals
-
Stocking and organizing our pet food pantry
-
Office work and filing
-
Organizing supplies or donations
-
Animal care and enrichment (only with direct legal guardian supervision)

We are always excited to hear new ideas from our volunteers. If you have a unique skill or a creative idea for how you might like to help, we would love to hear it.
