Foster Home Volunteers

Foster volunteers temporarily welcome animals into their homes and provide care, comfort, and stability while they wait for adoption or recover from illness, injury, or stress. Foster homes are especially important for young animals, animals recovering from medical care, and those who benefit from a quieter home environment.

Board of Directors

The HSBC Board of Directors is made up entirely of volunteer leaders who help guide the organization’s mission, strategy, and long-term success. Board members play an important role in governance, community leadership, and helping ensure the shelter continues to serve animals and people in our community.

Special Project, Group, or One-Time Volunteers

Not everyone is looking for a long-term volunteer commitment, and that’s okay. Individuals, businesses, school groups, and community organizations are always welcome to support the shelter through special projects, one-time volunteer opportunities, or group service activities.

Our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. From caring for animals and helping with adoptions to supporting events and community outreach, your time and compassion make a life-changing difference every single day. We couldn’t do it without you — thank you for helping us give every animal the chance they deserve.

Adult Volunteers (18+)

Adult volunteers are able to participate in nearly every aspect of the work we do at HSBC. Whether you’re interested in hands-on time with animals, helping with shelter operations, assisting with events, or lending a special skill, there are many ways to get involved. Volunteers help make our mission possible, and we are always excited to welcome new people to the team.

Youth Volunteers

Young volunteers play an important role in supporting the shelter and learning about animal welfare and community service. While there are some limitations due to insurance and safety requirements, there are still many meaningful ways for youth to get involved and help support the animals in our care.
